Salary and Benefits
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) believes in the power of exceptional talent and we work hard to competitively reward our teachers. CMS offers all teachers competitive compensation compared to surrounding counties in North Carolina, thanks to the Mecklenburg County supplement—one of the highest county supplements in the state.
Salaries at High Impact schools are no exception. As a full-time teacher in a High Impact school, you will earn a competitive starting salary based on your experience and education level. For example, a teacher with one year of experience and a bachelor’s degree will start at $37,947, while a teacher with five years of experience will start at $41,982.
Teachers who earn advanced degrees and National Board certification may be eligible for salary increases, and teachers who take on leadership roles at their schools through initiatives like Opportunity Culture may be eligible for bonuses.
You will also be able to access Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools’ comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision and life insurance coverage. We take pride in offering our employees an excellent benefits package, including enrollment in the North Carolina Retirement System, one of the strongest public pensions in the nation. Employees contribute just six percent and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools contributes a further 15 percent.
